I can clearly remember the murder of Veronica Guerin and the horror of it has never left me.
It would have been easy to sentimentalise her life, a young mother gunned down, but the movie "Veronica Guerin" did not.It portrayed an ambitious journalist whose determination to investigate the real dangers in the Irish Republic may have led her to act wrecklessly at times.
Cate Blanchett is astonishingly good in the title role, with the always excellent Ciaran Hinds giving a fine performance too.
Sad it may be but "Veronica Guerin" is an important story and needs to be seen.
