The brilliant but neurotic Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub, Men in Black), a top homicide investigator, was suspended from the force four years ago when his unusual behavior made him unfit for duty. Never one to give up, he's been busy battling his obsessive-compulsive disorder ever since with help from Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram, A league of Their Own), a mystery-loving nurse. Now that a string of unsolved murders involving a local political candidate has forced his former boss, Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine, The Silence of the Lambs), to call him in, this defective detective is back fighting crime while fighting his abnormal fears of germs, cars, heights, crowds and virtually everytning else known to man.
