A superb end to this wonderful trilogy. Bernard Cornwell has surpassed himself. It starts where Enemy of God ended and proceeds at a breathtaking pace through the latter years of Arthur and his greatest warlord and narrator, Lord Derfel Cadarn. You can taste the blood, feel every sword cut and spear thrust and come out knowing what it must have been like to live through the dark ages and stand in a shield wall facing your enemy. Mort D'Arthur it aint, real it is. There is a love story, treachery, friendship, loyalty, magic... Read the novel, listen to the audio book and you will not be dissapointed. Its just a shame every good story has to come to an end but read this after The Winter King and Enemy of God and its a breakneck ride to a climax that such a fantastic story deserves. Well done Mr Cornwell, but please... what happens next?
