Alexander kent's Richard Bolitho is on leave from his ship and goes home (Falmouth) with his best friend Martyn Dancer.

There they become embroiled with his Brothers attempt to bring down a Local Landowner who is also a friend of the Family.

It is here that we first (In terms of Time line anyway) get an inkling that all is not well with his Brothers Personality!

It is not the best of the Bolitho Novels, and for the avid follower, there is little of interest that is referred to in later periods in his life.

It immediately preceeds the events in the recent Band of Brothers Novel.
