I cannot make my mind up if I like this film or not. It is beautifully filmed but the actors' performances are a bit lacklustre. I really loved Kirstin Scott Thomas in 'The English Patient' and 'Four Weddings And A Funeral' but in her role as Brenda, the wife of a nice but boring aristocrat (James Wilby) who falls in love with a pennyless young man (Rupert Graves), she is fairly unimpressive and vague. Rupert Graves and James Wilby are equally average but I still enjoyed the film to an extend regardless until the silly and unrealistic ending really spoilt it for me.
