I loved the PS3 demo and now have the game. It's very much like the older PC IL-2 games. I'll run through a quick run down.

Pros: 3 modes of play (arcade, realistic, simulation), enemy AI is quite good-while in arcade mode it's easy to down a plane, try realistic/sim & there is a big difference as to the damage hit & where and don't be surprised if while playing the game you'll get blasted if you don't use tactics with your wingmen. Cockpit view is nice, as well as the the ground/targets and in the skies. For a $50 aprox game it is plentyful of nice flight dynamics/grfx/sound/and more. While some cockpits graphics are missing, they are on the way via DLC + addons are planed. This game rocks! If you're used to older flight sims type on console, and like them, you will love this game. It has alot to it, and the planded DLS's to come will add alot more to it. Sim mode has a differnt controller layout for trim & flaps. Again, the graphics are very well done. USB joysticks are supported (gotta try my MS FF2 JS). The manual explains everthing you need to know & get started, once in the game there are alot more. Many unlockables & alot of trophies. I just got the game today, err well yesterday and it's alot of fun.

Cons: As above mentioned missing some grfx, but don't worry as they are on the way by DLC's. Takes a bit of learning especially if you are used to flight-sims using a joystick. Other than that, I havn't found much to complain about.

Overall, this game rocks and is alot of fun. If you like the Arcade type of play it's supported. And for us sim-realisms it's in here aswell. I can't wait for the just some of the DLC's in the works and reading about more to come after that. IL-2:BoP is a sleeper hit for 2009. I've read many reviews and from what I've read it has a 8+/10 is the average score. When more DLC's are available reviews said it has a potential of a 9+/10. I've played the demo alot and now the game, and for it being a non $60(avg) game it is No Way a budget title. The game is slick, doesn't take long to get the controls down and even 'tho I am used to using a joystick on PC for sims, I found the sixacess to work quite well. The game also supports online (sorry havn't tried yet) and supports voice chat. Again this is a hit sleeper of the year. Highly recommended, and return playability I'd say is High. If you liked older flight games but wanted to be able to make it into a sim aswell, this has it. When I get online, I'll fill ya full of lead! ;)
