This book will keep you up all night and well into the morning. This book proves that love has now boundaries, especially not one such as class. Lorna is a young woman from a very rich family and Jens is the family's kitchen hand. They have nothing in common except a love of boats, this bring them together and they begin to feel things for each other, which they know is wrong and that will end up bring them so much pain. Even knowing all this their passion for each other overcomes everything. Until Lorna's family finds out about them and that Lorna's having Jens baby. This was at a time where women should only have a baby when their are married. Her parents horrified at the shame it will bring the family, send her away to have the baby in a nunnery and then to give it away, only then can she return home. Lorna begins to think that her family is right and that she should give up Jens, but then she sees him and knows she will never love another, now she is even ready to defy her parents. The only problem is Jens isn't willing to forgive Lorna for giving in to her parents and giving up their child. Throughout this book you feel the characters hurt and sorrow, you pray Jens will give up his pride and Lorna will defy her parents, for a love that's so strong, that it even starts to break the class barriers.
