Although this is not a badly written book, if you have read a lot of Mr Haldeman's work, as I have, there are more than one or two recurring ideas in this novel. In particular, the idea of coercing world peace is nearly the same as "Tool of the Trade". So the book is okay but lacks a lot of the author's earlier dynamic ideas from some of the collections of short stories like "Infinite Dreams".
I don't think you can plagiarise your own work but one thing is clear he needs to get some new material.
