Die bulgarische Sopranistin Raina Kabaivanska zählt zu den berühmtesten Opernsängerinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Zahlreiche Erfolge feierte sie an den größten Theatern der Welt: der Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Covent Garden oder am Bolschoi-Theater. Sogar in Wien und Salzburg verzauberte sie die Zuschauer mit ihrer Sopranstimme. Sie war es auch, die während der Trauerfreier für Luciano Pavarotti 2007 das „Ave Maria“ der Desdemona aus Verdis „Othello“ vortrug. Ihre ausdrucksvolle Stimme und die große Nuancenvielfalt machen das Album „Sei Unica“ zu einem Hörerlebnis. Lauschen Sie Arien aus Opern wie „Madame Butterfly“, „Tosca“ (beide von Giacomo Puccini) sowie „La Forza Del Destino“ (Giuseppe Verdi), die die Künstlerin gemeinsam mit dem Camerata Strumentale di Santa Cecilia aufgenommen hat. Ein kammermusikalisches Quintett unterstützt sie bei der Vertonung von Liedern: Zu hören sind u.a. Raina Kabaivanska is one of the leading sopranos of all times. She made her debut at the Bulgarian National Opera in Sofia as Tatjana in Eugene Onegin in 1957. Two years later she made a breakthrough in Fano, Italy, as Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. In 1961, she gave her first performance at La Scala in Milan, as Agnese in Bellini's Beatrice di Tenda.
She performed at both the Royal Opera House in London, as Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as Nedda. She went on performing at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Teatro Coln in Buenos Aires, the Paris Opra, the Vienna State Opera, the Budapest Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the San Francisco Opera, and the Dallas Opera among the many others.
At present, Raina Kabaivanska is a professor at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, in Siena, Italy.
